Classy without feeling stuffy. There’s lovely architecture, art and unique antiques everywhere, plus a clean pool and friendly, attentive staff. Lots of restaurants are easy to reach on foot, and the walkway to downtown is right across the street. I liked it here. I’m pretty sure my husband was the only Canadian around.

The pool area is gorgeous, and the staff were pleasant and tried to help in English. If you need anything, just ask. We were lucky to get a marina view, though other rooms may not have one. We stayed nine nights and, for the price and friendliness, it worked out well. The booking listed a minibar, bathtub, safe and microwave, but our double room had two full beds and a refrigerator instead. The lighting was so dim that doing makeup would be difficult. It has beautiful old-world charm, like CasaBlanca, and is about five minutes from Bahia Santa Cruz beach.
