Hostal Maple

We spent Saturday night in a two-bedroom room with its own bathroom. For the price, it was decent value, though we ran into a few problems. Our room had just been renovated, with comfortable beds and pillows, and it was clean. The bathroom was lovely and the water pressure excellent. Towels and soap were provided. Breakfast was included, with eggs, ham, beans, warm tortillas, dry toast, and Nescafé or tea. We were glad to get eggs, since a good protein option at hostel breakfasts can be hard to find. Sleep was the main issue. The upstairs suites looked unfinished, and there weren't safety railings. A bright light stayed on all night and shone into our room. I woke at 2 a.m. thinking it was already morning. We weren't sure whether we could switch it off, since it might have been on for safety or because other guests were staying upstairs. Darker curtains would help, as the ones there didn't block the light and made it hard to sleep. There was also road construction outside from 4 a.m. We barely slept, though that wasn't the hostel's fault, so I'd bring earplugs just in case. A few small changes could make a difference. Real coffee, or café de olla if the cost of regular coffee is an issue, would be better than Nescafé, and jam with the toast would be nice. They also charge $50 MX after 2:00 p.m. to hold your bag, a service many places provide free. Thanks, and best wishes.

We watched Netflix all night since the TV connects to the internet. Thanks, Maple, that was really cool.

For what they charge, I just can't recommend this hostel. There are hotels nearby that cost less.

The rooms were really comfortable.
