Hotel Minerva

That covered patio became one of our favorite spots. We could sit outside even when the rain came down or the sun was intense, and at night my family would have a drink there before bed. We brought our own cooler, which the hotel allows. Another morning we played Loteria while waiting for the rain to pass before heading to the waterfalls. The green mountain views are lovely, especially when the train winds through them. We’ve stayed twice, in December 2024 and June 2025, and both visits were close to perfect. The rooms are roomy, spotless, updated, and have really comfortable beds and bedding. After a day exploring waterfalls and caves, it’s great to come back and crash. The in-room AC and fast Wi-Fi are luxuries you don’t often find around here, and the AC is a godsend all year. Breakfast is worth ordering before a day out. It’s delicious and filling enough to last until lunch, even after a morning of swimming. I always got chilaquiles, while my family tried different dishes and everyone enjoyed theirs. The gated area also gave us peace of mind. We parked our cars inside overnight near the patio and pool without any trouble, though you’ll need to parallel park. And personally, I appreciate that the staff look after the street dogs and treat them kindly. Two usually stay inside the gate overnight and are practically part of the hotel staff.
