City Express by Marriott Tampico Altamira

A good place to stay, with all the usual things you get at a city express.

It’s a decent hotel. I like the tower rooms best, especially at the back facing the open area rather than the pool. They’re noticeably quieter, with no traffic noise and barely any sound from the train horn. For a better view, I find the fourth floor and up nicer.

The service was really bad. I asked them to book a taxi for 4:30 a.m., but they didn’t do it and then claimed they had. It’s obvious the people there don’t want to work.

I paid for a friend’s hotel over the phone because he was stranded in town. The night employee working around 8:30 on December 10, 2021 apparently used my card for their own shopping and charged more than $2,000. Management asked the staff, and everyone denied it. A little research should show who was working, but nobody was going to admit it. I felt taken advantage of, especially with $2,000 gone before Christmas. The bank investigation took three months, but eventually returned all my money. Nobody was held accountable. One of the employees on duty that night had written down my card details and didn’t destroy them. In the company’s email, they said nothing could be done because nobody admitted to it. I used to work somewhere that handled cash and card information, and transactions were time-stamped with the person responsible. They did nothing to help me.
