Tapalpa de mis Amores

The rooms are beautiful and super clean, but breakfast needs work. They should offer a better menu and have more prepared kitchen staff who pay attention to guests' experience. Lots of people leave early, so starting breakfast at 9:30 or 10:00 am isn't convenient for tourists.

The antique look is lovely, and the rooms feel comfortable, rustic, and elegant all at once. It's beautiful and clean, and the personnel were very helpful.

The staff were nice and the hotel was clean, but we cut our stay short and left after one night. With our toddler, the lack of sound insulation in the doors and windows meant every noise came through, and light got into the room too. Our child wouldn't sleep. The room was also too small to set up the portable crib. The old room doors took a huge key to open and close, which was awkward and noisy. I'm still waiting to hear from the hotel about the refund for the night we didn't stay.

What made Hotel Tapalpa de mis Amores special for me was the hospitality. Manager Scarlet made me feel at home right away. She was more than helpful, treated me like a good friend, and we even laughed about how badly I drove and parked one day. I was nervous about traveling to Mexico because I know very little Spanish, but Scarlet speaks English with a lovely Irish accent. She quickly figured out every request I had. I wanted to try a Mexican dessert, and she suggested pastel de campechanas. It was exquisite! I know I can come across as too direct, and I was probably a difficult guest with all my requests, but the manager never crossed a line with me. The hotel wouldn't be the wonderful place it is without her. Leaving was the only bitter moment. I've stayed twice on separate occasions, and I hope to return soon and have more drinks. If you visit, please tell the manager Chet says hello. The decorations are what first catch your eye. Every space has carefully chosen items, and each room has its own feel. I was told the manager, who loves traveling, especially to Poland and Turkey, did most of the interior design, which may explain the variety of ornaments. Because the decor is so special, the hotel isn't pet-friendly, even though the Manager loves Yorkies.
