Hotel El Rincon de Don Juan

The only hotel close to the beach.

The staff were attentive when asked, which was a positive, and the small pool did the job. Still, I can't recommend this hotel, and I hope this helps other vacationers. I booked through an app and was surprised at arrival that the price was 20% higher than the monthly rates. Maybe I just didn't know better, but keep it in mind. The rooms were small and musty, and some bathrooms smelled unpleasant. Although the room seemed clean, finding a cockroach on the headboard was awful. The furniture was clearly worn and poorly maintained, and the hotel felt old. Being only a few steps from the beach is convenient, but the path there was strewn with trash. The beach itself was very dirty, packed with people, vendors, and tables. I'd been told it was quiet and clean, but that wasn't the case, and the noise makes this a poor place to relax. Neither type of beach-facing room had the view I expected. The side-view rooms face the street used by everyone walking to the beach. The direct-view rooms look onto the restaurant roof, which blocks the view. The photos show the view from just one room. The parking lot is tiny, unsecured, and crowded. If someone parks in front of your car, you have to leave your keys with the security guard so they can move it.

The ocean view from the rooms was the best part of an excellent stay. The rooms were very well appointed, the customer service was outstanding, and the restaurant had great food at good prices. I'm very grateful to all the hotel staff for the excellent service throughout.

The pool area is really nice, the rooms are comfortable, and the air conditioning works well. Everyone at the hotel is very friendly, and the food is good. Just stay away from the palapas. The man serving there is rude and inattentive. Street vendors keep bothering you too, even after you say no. If you do use the palapas, pay right away and get a receipt. The man there is careless with the change, and he may add the cost of his "service" to everything you order, so you can end up paying almost double for what you used.
