Getting in means calling the hotel so they can open the gate to the gated community. Once inside, the place is simple and clean, with two small pools, and the staff are friendly and provide good service. But I didn’t feel safe or like I had any privacy. A man suddenly tried to enter my room without knocking, even though there was noise inside. That’s concerning, especially since there are no safety deposit boxes.

The bathroom had such a strong sewage smell that it spread through the whole room. I had to keep the door shut to sleep. There was also a motor running all night, and the front desk did nothing when I reported it. I had no hot water because they said they’d forgotten to turn on that room’s heater. There’s no breakfast service either. Room 14 is up a very narrow, steep spiral staircase. Nobody helped me carry my bags, which was dangerous and painful with my knee problems. The room itself felt like a makeshift space on the roof. The old, dirty white curtains let in light and outside noise, and didn’t fully block the view from outside. When I checked in, there wasn’t even a curtain. Someone could see you naked if they went up to hang towels. The towels weren’t from the hotel, either, they were old reused ones from other places. The sliding glass door was heavy and hard to move, and it locks when opened. Reception told me not to lock it because it might get stuck and to “trust” that nobody would go upstairs. I locked it anyway. They charge $1,500 a night, yet can’t fix something like that? One of the three beds had broken legs. There were no towels, shampoo, or other hygiene items in the room when I arrived, so I had to ask reception. The sheets were rough and old, and the blankets were torn, stained, and rough too. The room wasn’t fully clean, there was hair from previous guests. There was nowhere to hang clothes, no wardrobe, and not even a table lamp. One bulb was burned out. The receptionists are friendly, but the hotel badly needs repairs. Guests shouldn’t have to stay in such poor conditions for such a high price. They charge as much as a City Express, where at least the conditions for guests are decent.
