The view at Punta Serena is breathtaking, and the staff always work hard to make the stay feel just right. We’ve been about 13 or 14 times and usually stay Sunday to Sunday. The menu has a decent variety, and even as a picky eater I found every meal really good. They’re also pretty good about changing what’s included in a meal when you ask. Be ready for a lot of stairs. Between our villa, the dining room, the beach, and other places, we averaged around 810 a day. The Tejons have multiplied over the years and are everywhere all the time. They aren’t afraid of people. We’ve had them get into a car with its sunroof left open and unplug wiring so it wouldn’t start, tear through a screen door and trash a room, climb on tables and lounge chairs, try to get into our backpack, and grab sugar packets right off the dining room table. They really need to get these critters under control. DO NOT FEED THEM!

The old hotel is made up for by the scenery and the staff. It’s a great spot for a couple’s getaway. The food and drinks are fair, and there are plenty of massage options. The Temazcal experience is a must. There are quite a few stairs, so getting around could be difficult if you have accessibility issues.

We travel a long way to return to this Hidden Gem, a regional favorite for secluded adult-only retreats. There’s enough English spoken to get good service. If you want to switch off and relax for a week or two, I can’t think of a better place.

The rooms are okay, though the food and drinks could use improvement. Since it’s adults-only, it’s easy to relax and enjoy yourself. Nudity is optional at the private beach, and taking the temazcal as a healing ritual is an experience you should try.

You can watch the sun sink into the sea during an evening massage, or spend the calm part of the evening in the pool. In the morning, there’s yoga overlooking the bay. Amazing place.
