Aldea Canzul Tulum

My mom has trouble walking on sand because of her disability, and one morning we found the team building a wooden rail pathway so she could reach the beach more independently. The security staff also kept an attentive eye on her and on all of us. That felt like real hospitality. Aldea Canzul is right on the beach and the property was stunning and extremely clean. The hotel zone around it is noisy, so you need to be comfortable with that, but being so close to the beach made it worthwhile. The town is a 20 to 40 minute drive and worth a visit if you want a day away from the beach scene.

The villa was clean, spacious, and thoughtfully put together, and the property itself has stylish architecture, a beautiful beachfront setting, and very friendly staff. But we spent a week at Aldea Canzul and found the stay extremely disappointing. Two nearby beach clubs played electronic music through the day and into the night, sometimes until around 1:30am. Our villa was also beside a large diesel generator powering one of them, so there was constant background noise. Relaxing and sleeping were both difficult. The website FAQ says the property suits families with children, which felt very misleading given the nightlife and noise around it. The private pool was unheated and stayed extremely cold for the whole stay. Even when it was close to 30°C outside, it wasn’t comfortable to use, and we didn’t use it once that week. At about USD$1,500 a night, I expected something comparable to established luxury hotels like Mandarin Oriental, which offer 10x the service by comparison. The noise, limited F&B service, lack of a minibar, nearby generator, and unusable pool don’t fit that price. Tulum’s beach zone is known for its party scene, which is fine, but the property should be clear about the noise and price itself accordingly.

We had 25 friends with us for an extended wedding celebration at Aldea Canzul in November, and we’re still dreaming about it. After a long search for the right place, we couldn’t be happier with our choice. Nathalie and Mau were wonderful. We booked the whole beachside property. It’s steps from the beach and central to the action, yet still felt private and calm under the jungle canopy. Each villa and room had its own character, was comfortable, clean, and functional, with a relaxed kind of luxury. Rooms had drinking water each day, natural bug spray, good shower products, and beach towels. Staff were thoughtful and kind throughout, so the whole stay felt easy. The complimentary breakfasts were delicious and generous, and our guests looked forward to them every morning. You can hear bass and music from the neighboring beach clubs, though it didn’t bother us. Their hours vary, so it isn’t every day, and it’s expected in this part of Tulum. Our guests were impressed by the property’s quality, the helpful team, and the location. I’d recommend it for groups of any size, and we hope to visit again.

I got married here, and we hardly needed to add anything because the place was already stunning. We stayed at Aldea Canzul and the Treehouse property, and I wish I could live at Aldea Canzul. The greenery made it feel like a jungle, while the beautiful villas inside had the feel of a luxury resort. I was nervous the photos might look better than the real thing, but seeing the place in person was a whole different level. The service was incredible. We worked with Leo, Nat, and Cecilia, and the whole staff seemed to know what we needed before we asked. I was so emotional saying goodbye. We felt safe the entire time, with security at both properties, and everything we wanted was within ten minutes, from food and yoga to the jungle gym, clubs, and shopping. I’d give the place a million stars.
