We planned six nights at Akumal, then extended our trip to ten, which says plenty. There really is something for everyone at this all-inclusive resort. You can relax by the beach or smaller pools, get active with the gym, golf, and tennis, or enjoy the busier main pool and evening shows. There’s a wide range of food and drinks too, from healthy juices and dishes to more of a party scene, and it was all delicious. The grounds cover a huge area with several resorts, a golf course, a casino, well-kept gardens, and wildlife. We explored it using the different bus lines. Our renovated room was comfortable, clean, and well equipped. The staff were consistently kind and helpful, always ready with a joke and a positive attitude. Thanks to everyone, and especially Jose at reception, who did everything he could to make our stay even better.

José at reception helped make our birthday stay truly special. His kindness, professional warmth, and sincere smile made our ten days of peace, relaxation, and good moods even better. We’d originally booked six nights, then added four. Thank you, dear José, for everything and for that genuine smile. We stayed in a newly renovated junior suite facing the lush garden around the resort. From our room we saw blue sky, palms, tropical plants, and birds singing cheerfully. We even spotted a colibrì. There’s something here for people who like a livelier holiday as well as those who want privacy and quiet. We found a very peaceful stretch of beach with no loud music. A little bay nearby shelters lots of fish, including some big ones, and birds bathe and fish right alongside people. We found the food fresh and delicious, with plenty of healthy choices. The Mexican corner was a must for us at every meal. Sometimes an item needed refilling, but with so many people, that seemed normal. We also enjoyed the atmosphere and the respectful, friendly guests. One night’s entertainment was fantastic: City of Rock played hits while dancers performed great choreography. We had a lovely time and highly recommend Akumal. Big hug to Magic José, your exceptional personality will take you far!

The beach and service were the best of all the resorts we visited. We appreciated the golf cart rides to and from our room, and the entertainment team did a wonderful job with pool activities and other events. The evening shows were just right, and the grounds were immaculate. We really did choose the best resort. If we return to this part of Mexico, this is the only place we’d consider. Thanks for making our stay so great. I never got to meet Henry Perez, but his YouTube video, where he came across as such a cool guide and host, is what convinced us to choose this location.

I loved the place, and the staff were lovely and very respectful. Their uniforms deserve an A+. The buffet meats were tough, though, and the hamburger wasn’t really a hamburger. One issue needs attention. At Riverdale Maya Akumal, a vendor put me down near the hacienda’s front entrance. He asked who I was, and when I said I was of Mexican descent, he asked my name and then my last name. After I told him both, he said I was nobody and questioned why I was there. He also claimed he had more money than us Americans. He then brought up the mask I’d been looking for the night before, which he hadn’t found. He said he had it now and asked me for $50 and three hours to bring it to me. I told him I didn’t need it anymore. He challenged me, asking why I’d looked for it before but didn’t want it now that he said he had it. I explained it was for the USA vs. Canada game, which was over, and that I wasn’t comfortable paying him $50 and waiting three hours for a mask. He seemed as though he might have been on drugs. He moved very close and stared into my eyes, then asked me to shake hands on it. I refused and said I didn’t want the mask anymore and that he was making me very uncomfortable.
