The room itself was beautiful and comfortable, but the noise, Wi-Fi, and air conditioning made this feel more like a three-star than a four-star hotel. I stayed from 9/22/25 to 9/26/25 in a two-bedroom suite with a full kitchen, living room, one bathroom, and balcony. It had a queen bed in one room and two twins in the other. Tulum was in the high 90s with extreme humidity during my stay. At check-in we were told to insert a key card into a slot to turn on the electricity, including the air conditioner. We left it in while out so the apartment would be cool when we got back, but housekeepers kept removing it and shutting off the AC. I asked the front desk to tell them to leave it in, but they continued doing it every day. The suite became suffocatingly hot, even dangerous, and took over an hour to cool down. It felt like they were doing it to save electricity, at the expense of guests. The street noise was very loud, with no real peace and quiet, so bring earplugs. The Wi-Fi was terrible too. There weren’t regular TV channels, only streaming, but the connection was so bad that anything we watched kept stopping.

Everything was clean and up to date, with a nice bathroom and plenty of outlets for charging. Our two-bedroom unit had a good-sized sitting area and kitchen. The staff were wonderful, kind, and very helpful, and the attached restaurant served great food. There’s a workout area with a pool table, which made for a nice evening. A lovely hotel in Tulum.

Cafe Don Thomas is right beside the hotel, and the breakfast there was tasty. We also rented bicycles, which made getting around easy, and the pool was a welcome way to cool off in the February heat. Our room had plenty of space, and the staff were friendly. We had to reschedule our trip to Tulum, and Hotel Biwa handled it helpfully and professionally.

We were three friends sharing an apartment with two bedrooms, one with twin beds and the other with a queen. The beds were comfortable, the AC worked well, and the living room had a cozy couch and the option to add streaming services. We ate breakfast at Don Tomas every day and really enjoyed both the food and the excellent service. When I left my speaker behind at checkout, the staff brought it out to me while we waited for our taxi. The pool was lovely, and there are restaurants and bars nearby.
