Cormoran Boutique Hotel & Cenote Tulum

We had a really enjoyable stay. The cenote is lovely, and reception can lend you kayaks and snorkeling gear for free. They also offer free bikes for going out to eat or to the supermarket. The rooms are clean and spacious, with a small patio out front. It’s a little away from the main area, which makes it quiet at night and relaxing during the day. A brilliant place to stay.

Our room looked stunning, and the bathroom was very good. The location is fantastic, there’s free parking, and the sister hotel posada lamar gives you access to the beach. Breakfast wasn’t included. The walk to the private cenote feels eerie, but it’s beautiful, and using the kayaks there was fun. Watch out on the road for people walking and the toppes! The main letdown was the AC. This is an eco hotel powered by solar panels, and they told us the generator would run from 2100 to 0700 for the AC. In practice, it went off at 0200 both nights. You can switch on the fan, but it’s noisy. It wasn’t a huge deal in fresh November weather, though I wouldn’t fancy it in May’s heat. Otherwise, it was perfect.

Leo at the front desk made the whole stay easy, from check-in onward. He even arranged trusted, punctual private rides to and from Cancun. I booked directly with the hotel and found the experience comfortable and timeless. The room looked just like the photos on the website. The breezy, laid-back feel suited me, and it was far enough from the party zone. I also enjoyed the bike ride to the sister hotel, about 20 minutes each way, a good workout. I’d definitely come back.

The private cenote access is a clear advantage, but we had a hard time sleeping because the air conditioning didn’t work effectively. Mosquitoes bit us frequently during the stay. The hotel’s options for handling the mosquitoes may be limited. Still, better door seals could help keep them out of the rooms and also reduce the energy needed for air conditioning. The hospitality was good up until checkout, which was disappointing.
