Hotel Bardo Adults Only

The location worked well for exploring the Tulum ruins and centro on foot or by bike, and the pictures are accurate. But for the price I paid, the stay was pretty meh. I traveled solo in February 2026, and the rooms were so dark that I needed my flashlight to get ready for a 6 a.m. excursion, even with every light on. It was noisy too, so light sleepers should bring noise-canceling headphones. Breakfast was included and terrific, while dinner left a lot to be desired. The rest of the food and service were just OK. The pool loungers need replacing, and the person handling check-in and checkout seemed a bit uninterested. I didn’t see cockroaches, though I always travel with two ultrasonic plug-in pest repellers, so maybe that’s why. Had I paid half, or even three-quarters, of what I did, I’d probably rate it higher. I wouldn’t return at the price I paid.

A few practical things: we’d read about hot-water problems before arriving, but had no trouble with it. Our room’s heated pool felt more like bath water than a hot tub, which suited us perfectly. The main pool isn’t heated, and Tulum had an unusually cold week when we visited, so we were glad to have our own pool. Breakfast was included from a limited menu, but tips weren’t, and you can’t pay the tip by card, so bring cash. My husband and I came to Tulum for our anniversary and stayed at two places. Hotel Bardo was a truly exquisite experience. The grounds felt serene, the room was peaceful and clean, the pool area was luxurious, and the jungle showers were great. We loved the food at Milum, the fantastic concierge service, and the morning yoga and Pilates. Free classes were also offered at their sister property, though I didn’t go. We could easily walk to nearby sights, and especially loved seeing and hearing all the different birds around the property.

We wished we could have stayed longer. Bardo was quiet and romantic, felt very safe, and gave us the best sleep of our travels around Mexico. Fernando and the whole team were polite, welcoming, and lovely throughout. The hotel was immaculate and calming, with luxurious rooms and an amazing outdoor shower. The food and cocktails were delicious too. Concierge help over WhatsApp was excellent. We often asked for local food recommendations and cenotes, and got quick, useful replies. With a car, the drive to the main Tulum beachfront took 15-20 minutes, and we enjoyed going there for dinner one evening. We also walked 20-40 minutes into town for dinner and drinks, with lots of great places and cool bars to choose from. We felt safe, though of course you should stay alert. Since the hotels are connected, you can also walk back to your room through the Una Vida entrance. A perfect place to relax and recharge. Muchos Gracias.

We loved how attentive the service and cleaning staff were, and all the little details they took care of. The villas are beautiful, with plunge pools, and it was easy to spend the day lounging by the pool in the sun. The stay felt restful and peaceful. Breakfast is provided, and the food and drinks were great. You can also use Milam and Una Vida resort. For us, it was worth the money.
