The rooftop was my favorite part, with its palapa cover, kitchen, plenty of room to hang out, plants, and even an outlet for working. The price felt fair for what you get. La Palmita was a cute place for a few days, with lovely murals, nice wooden furniture, a quiet house, and friendly people I met. The rooms are spacious, with high ceilings and good hot water pressure. It’s about a 10-minute walk to ADO, and the Collectivos stop is just a few minutes away on the main Ave around the corner. Centro is walkable too. Some bar noise carries at night, but earplugs took care of it, and I only saw a few mosquitoes. My main reason for taking off a star was the very choppy internet, especially for FB, in the evenings when everyone seemed to be online. It was a little better in the morning, but I wouldn’t choose this place for online work. Otherwise, great.

The front desk guys were friendly and gave us helpful advice. I liked the shared area with kitchen access, and the little fridge in the room came in handy. The central location is great, though street noise gets very loud and the rooms don’t block it well. There’s no elevator to the rooftop. I’d suggest families look elsewhere, but it could work really well for a solo traveler or a couple.

We’ve stayed in a lot of places on our travels, and this might be the best budget hostel. There was loads of space, plus a comfy bed, balcony, AC, and fan. The daytime receptionist was friendly and gave us useful tips on cenotes and getting to the beach. Free filtered water was a nice touch. The shower head sprayed upward and soaked much of the bathroom, though we reported it and it seemed fixable. We also had to pay cash to rent bikes because using a card came with an extra charge. That surprised me since we could pay for the room by card, and most restaurants don’t ask for cash.

The staff were nice and helpful, and the rooms were decent, clean, and felt safe. The only real downside was loud music blasting at night, so bring earplugs. Otherwise, no major complaints.

The location is excellent and very central, though bars nearby play loud music at night. Our room was dirty, with little insects crawling around and hair on the bed, and the balcony door wouldn’t lock. We asked to switch rooms but were told the hotel was full, even though the room across the hall was clearly empty.
