The property has a hiking trail through the forest and several hidden cenotes or caverns. You can’t swim in them because they’re shallow, but they’re beautiful to see. There’s also a gorgeous pool and a mezcal/sauna. It feels completely removed from everything, a place to relax and be with your surroundings. The owner has worked tirelessly to make it special. The ceilings bring in lovely natural light, and every part has its own character. I hope I can return someday. It seems like the place will keep improving.

There’s no mobile network coverage here, and we had trouble with the Wi-Fi. It was unstable and sometimes unusable when we needed it. I’d recommend taking the hotel’s trail, though it’s a bit long, to see the range of vegetation and species in the state’s rainforest. The staff were friendly throughout, and you can use the shared areas for cooking and refrigeration. This is a clean place, untouched by the commercial feel of big hotel chains, and suited to a stay focused on originality rather than luxury. It’s far from the hustle and bustle, best for people looking to connect with nature and quiet, or have an authentic adventure.

These eco cabins are surrounded by nature and make a romantic, peaceful spot not far from Tulum. There’s a temazcal (traditional sweat lodge), a pool, and a cenote to visit, though swimming isn’t allowed.

In the middle of the jungle, Kambulum’s eco-friendly villas offer the peace and quiet I’d been looking for. There’s a temazcal (traditional sweat lodge), trails, a pool, restaurant, bicycles, and kayaks.

The stars look incredible from this beautiful place. It’s a lovely spot away from the cities, where you can feel free and connect with nature.
