Layla Tulum - Adults Only

The best part of my stay was RICARDO ♥️, the general manager. He looked after me from the moment I arrived until after I left, made me feel like a princess, and sent me beautiful flowers with a personal letter and another meaningful gift. I’ve heard he takes personal care of every guest. Everyone at reception, in the restaurant, and in housekeeping was lovely too. Helena helped with restaurant reservations, and the whole team worked to make guests feel at home. The owner, Itai, was very kind. I stayed seven nights and still didn’t want to leave. I loved my spacious garden pool view room, everything was clean and smelled great, and it was a pleasant space with a comfortable bed, very hot water, Netflix, good lighting, privacy, quiet, and plenty of room to hang my dresses. The location in town is great, with lots of parking and restaurants nearby. Go to osteria Venezia. The hotel food was wonderful, especially the cebiches and hummus. There’s also an amazing rooftop pool with great beds and seating. I was the DJ up there! Breakfast was included, too. If you want a beach stay, go to SANA, a sister hotel. It’s fancy and luxurious, with Moroccan style. Best design hotel in Tulum. 🪬🧿

For a short visit in downtown Tulum, Layla Tulum is a great base, with lots of streets and local places to explore nearby. It’s a sister hotel of Sana Tulum and has a similar feel, but its own charm. We had a lovely breakfast and really enjoyed the rooftop bar and its view. The staff were fantastic, with special thanks to Sonia for helping with our reservation, you’re a legend! The rooms are small but very comfortable. If you can, I’d avoid a ground-floor room. Highly recommend for a stylish stay right in town.

Ricardo and Elena are the reason I’d book this hotel again. Elena at reception was warm, attentive, and ready to help with anything. Ricardo, the manager, was especially thoughtful: I have several food allergies, and although the menu didn’t cover dairy and egg allergies, he made sure the chefs prepared safe meals for me. When I misplaced my sunglasses on our first day, he retraced my stops until he found them. I’ve never had service this proactive. The hotel’s Moroccan-inspired design is beautiful, and our room was small, though that didn’t matter since we weren’t planning to spend much time in it. We were on a lively side street in Tulum, outside the beach district, with plenty of good restaurants and little shops nearby. The rooftop bar is lovely and laid-back, with DJs playing house music. I’d love to see more clearly marked gluten-free and vegan options, since safe choices make travel much less stressful for someone with multiple allergies, especially in Tulum where eating clean can be tricky. The staff were so friendly, and they even helped us sort out buses and our plans while we were traveling. Thanks to the whole Layla Team! The rooftop pool was clean, caught the sun, and had a really nice atmosphere. Other rooftop pools we’d visited were full of mosquitoes. The rooms looked gorgeous, especially the bathrooms and balconies. And the room spray smelled so heavenly and relaxing that we bought a few bottles to take home. Spraying it in my bedroom later reminded me I still hadn’t written this review.
