The suite was nicely designed, with some lovely finishes, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The amenities could use more attention, especially the shower head and kitchen supplies.

The view and the architecture and interior design speak for themselves. What stood out during our stay was the helpfulness of the food team and everyone working there. Pedro looked after our daily desayuno, and Daniel went out of his way to make sure I could have quiet time for an interview during my vacation. Highly recommend!

This place was horrible. It says check-in is available until 11 pm, but the receptionist is only there from 9 am to 3 pm. We arrived at 9:30 pm and nobody was there. I called and messaged the number I was given, and nobody answered. I'd tried to tell them we wouldn't arrive by 3 pm and would be later, but couldn't reach anyone. We ended up sitting in the car until the next morning, with nobody knowing what was going on or who we could complain to. We weren't the only ones dealing with this. The toilet seat wasn't attached. The towels were ancient and see-through, the sofa was dirty and had cigarette burns, and the sheets were stained. The mattress was dirty and smelled like pee. The pool was very dirty and green, and the pots and pans weren't in good shape for cooking.

Despite the attractive facade, my three days at Macondo Tulum were a nightmare. There was no water the entire stay, and the hotel's suggestion was that we take water from the pool to shower and use the toilet. They promised a full refund for all three nights but never followed through. I tried repeatedly to get an answer, and was ignored or delayed for months. By the time March was approaching, the refund still hadn't come. The rooms themselves are nice and the hotel's area is good, but all I experienced beyond that was false promises. The lack of basic hygiene, comfort, accountability, and professional service was appalling. One star feels generous. Potential guests should be wary of promises and the disregard for guests' wellbeing. Very sad 😞!
