The room and property were lovely, with thoughtful design, comfortable accommodation, and two excellent pools: one on the roof and one in the center of the complex. The staff were welcoming, and the Airbnb host was friendly and quick to respond. We stayed for a week at the beginning of January. The downsides at the property were cleanliness that fell short of what I’d expect at other hotels, and a kitchen with too few utensils and appliances. You need transport to reach downtown or the beach. We rented scooters and bought groceries, though there’s also a small shop by the entrance with drinks, snacks, and a few basics. The access road has about 100 meters of dirt and huge potholes, making it difficult even for taxis. The area itself was still decent despite those issues. The scooter rental from Quenzel Motors was a much worse part of the trip. We paid a $400 USD deposit for three days. On the first day, after about 20-30 km, we got a flat and were stranded for nearly an hour waiting for help. They charged around $30 USD to repair it, but the repair didn’t hold. Two kilometers later we got another flat. They brought a replacement scooter, then said we’d damaged the first scooter’s rim and charged another $250 USD. We had no further trouble for the rest of the rental, but a month and a half later we still hadn’t received the $400 deposit back. At first they said the delay was normal, but after several attempts to contact them, they stopped replying. We feel we were scammed. Online, we found other customers describing similar experiences. I absolutely wouldn’t recommend renting from this company.

The staff were really helpful, and having a car meant the rough roads in this developing area weren’t a problem. We also appreciated the daily ride to Akana Beach Club, and the beach is very close. Mystique Temple 2 was a lovely Tulum stay, with clean, luxurious rooms and beautiful jungle sunset views.

I came here to rest and it felt like being at home in the jungle, with birdsong and gorgeous greenery all around. The rooms were clean and roomy, the AC worked well, and there were lots of pools. The staff were lovely, and I really liked the gym. The only drawback is that it’s not downtown or within walking distance of the beach, and taxis cost a lot. I’d definitely come back. Thanks to everyone at Mistiq Temple 2!

BE VERY CAREFUL WITH MISTIQ TEMPLE II AND QUETZAL MOTORS! I booked Mistiq Temple II on Airbnb, and the concierge recommended Quetzal Motors for scooter rentals. This feels like a setup. Search the name online and you’ll find other people’s stories. I’m not the only one who says this has happened. They ask for either a large deposit, $400 or $300 USD, or your passport. After you return the scooter, Quetzal Motors and the concierge may give excuses about “problems” with the bank, keep your passport, or invent issues. It’s a common scam. Do not get involved with these people. Be warned!

I loved walking around the grounds, listening to nature, and watching both sunset and sunrise. The residence is peaceful and surrounded by nature, yet close to the beach and city center. It has great swimming pools and a high quality gym, and the internet was fast and reliable. For sure, the best residence in Tulum. I’ll definitely return.
