Mudra Tulum

The grounds could use a little better upkeep. The pool had some leaves and debris, and the foliage along the walkway to my room made for an interesting path. Mudra was otherwise a decent apartment hotel, and the staff were really nice and friendly. The location was decent, close enough to town, and renting a bike from the property should work fine.

Our belongings were stolen at the hotel. The service was terrible, and staff showed no interest in finding our things. The rooms look nice but are very poorly equipped, without even basic utensils. Nobody seemed concerned about guests’ needs, especially the manager. There are many better places to stay nearby. I don’t recommend it.

I liked how quiet and isolated Mudra felt, and it was a much bigger property than others in Tulum, even the trendy spots off the hotel strip. I preferred staying here to the beach area, where places can be overpriced. I booked this place specifically for the air conditioning. October is mosquito season, so watch out for outdoor areas. Even with repellent, I still got bitten. Mudra is a good choice if you rent a car.

The penthouse rooms were roomy and had decent air conditioning, though the units were loud. The location was good, but the place could use a refresh and wasn’t cleaned well. There’s no washing machine. Both pools were green, the penthouse one and the public one. The gym was basically unusable because everything was broken. There’s no reception, and security didn’t speak English at all. If something goes wrong, they just give you a number to call. It was an OK stay, but I wouldn’t recommend it or return. There are much better places elsewhere.
