NAJ Boutique Hotel-Aldea Zama

Getting around from NAJ Boutique was easy enough, with typical InDrive trips to the places we wanted to go costing $60-$80mx. The neighborhood around the hotel is still being built up, so there should be even more to do within walking distance soon. Our room, patio, and pool were all great, and Raquel helped us a lot during the stay.

The staff were welcoming, and Raquel was easy to reach, helpful, and very responsive. We stayed in the family apartment, whose spacious rooms looked just like the pictures. You can get anywhere by bicycle in 15 minutes, and there are lots of new restaurants about a 10-minute walk away.

The rooftop pool was amazing, and the room was clean. It’s close to downtown Tulum, so getting around wasn’t too difficult, and there’s a convenience store right across the street. I stayed four days, and Raquel and the receptionist were kind and accommodating. Great customer service. I’d recommend it for a short Tulum trip.

Do not stay here. My girlfriend’s credit card, Apple Watch, and prescription medication were stolen from our room, and I believe Racquel and her staff were responsible. We put her business card in the in-room safe on the night we arrived and neither of us took it out during the trip. Fraudulent charges started as we were leaving Tulum and on our return flight. Raquel and her staff had our itinerary, including flight details. We only learned the card was missing after Chase alerted my girlfriend to a pending $4k charge and an attempted $6k charge. Over several days, about $3k in fraudulent transactions went through. Many were connected to the hotel, including cable and internet bills, an iPhone purchase, and hundreds of dollars in hotel supplies from businesses around Tulum like a Wal Mart or Costco. Her Apple Watch was in her toiletry kit, along with her Xanax and Vicodin. None of those items had been taken out or used during the trip, and we didn’t realize they were gone until a few days later. A business owner stealing from guests in such a calculated way is deplorable. I hope Naj Tulum suffers financially. It’s already bankrupt spiritually and morally. In response to Naj Tulum: On our phone call last week, you admitted there is a master key for all the in-room safes and that you and your staff can access it. As I said, we never removed the stolen items from our room during our entire stay in Tulum. The only possibility is theft by you or your staff. When we raised this on the call, you were combative and unwilling to investigate. You blamed us for not noticing sooner. Your willingness to “investigate” now feels like a performative effort to save face. You know our room, names, and contact information. We won’t provide any more personal information because you’re not trustworthy. Besides thousands of dollars in fraudulent telecommunications charges, there were several hundred dollars in other charges from Aki Tulum, Selecto Chedraui, and Oxxo Bonanza, all close to Naj Tulum.
