Rubi Tulum

Our family and friends actually put their devices away here, which was a rare win. There was so much to take in around the property, and being surrounded by nature felt peaceful. Rubi Tulum gave us the luxury and thoughtfulness we wanted for experiencing Tulum, with hospitality on par with luxury brands.

We spent a weekend in the penthouse, with three levels to enjoy and a private pool for every suite. The rooftop terrace was a lovely place to watch sunset, and the waterfall, hot tub, and cold plunge were standouts for me. Inside, the architecture and decor felt carefully considered, with a fridge for snacks and a big TV. Staff were attentive the whole time and very welcoming. It was a peaceful, private jungle escape from the busier parts of Tulum, and just right for a weekend away with my partner.

The jungle setting means the road to the hotel is rough, and taxis cost more because of it. I'd suggest renting a scooter or car. We really enjoyed the big pool, the hot and cold mini pool, and the tower for sunset watching. Our room was lovely, and the staff were kind, helpful, and wonderful. The shower over the tub did spray water everywhere, though, leaving the floor wet. Still, we had a great stay and found the place beautiful and relaxing.

The architecture and rooms are stunning, and the restaurant terrace looked beautiful. We skipped eating there because the prices were high, though the food looked amazing. Some smaller things need work: the sink and parts of the pool were broken or poorly thought through, the towels had spots despite being clean, and the room smelled a little. Showering also left part of the room underwater because the tub sits in the middle. The road in is really bad and the hotel is remote, though it was nice to be away from the centre. Construction opposite the hotel badly disrupted our first day, but a free upgrade to the other side helped a lot. We may come back when the area is more developed.
