The Yellow Nest

This is a beautiful, tranquil little hotel, almost like glamping, and it looks just like the images at Instagram: the.yellownest. The paths through the garden are lovely, and there are beautiful birds around. The staff are very friendly and know the region and local transport well. We don’t speak Spanish, but that was no problem, just a couple of small moments of confusion. WiFi worked well, and the food and drinks were delicious and beautifully plated. The drinking water provided was good too. It’s in the middle of wild nature, so you may encounter insects. During the dark hours, electricity comes from an aggregator that’s a little noisy. I highly recommend the temazcal. The floating breakfast was nicer than I expected. Muchisimas gracias! 💚🌹

We had an amazing stay at Yellow Nest. Tucked into the jungle, it was peaceful and surrounded by nature. The service really stood out, with Jorge, Diego, Miguel, and Arturo all going above and beyond and making the experience special.

The front desk staff and manager were the one bright spot for us. They were a real credit to the hotel, and the marshmallows they provided for an evening fire were a sweet touch. But the room’s sewage smell kept returning whenever we showered or used the taps, and it was bad enough to wake us. The shower was rusty, its head didn’t work, and there was nowhere to put toiletries. No AC either, just a fan. The pool was cloudy and full of debris. Power cuts happened regularly, and at 7 a.m. a very loud machine, maybe for grounds work, disturbed us. Staff were also blowing their noses loudly on the floor and watching videos and laughing by the pool, which didn’t seem professional. The hotel is deep in the jungle, down a long, rough road, and bugs were everywhere, so bring repellent since none is provided. The photos and reviews had given us a different impression. We reluctantly left after one night instead of staying for both. For us, this is a three-star place, not five. It was about £70 less than a proper five-star bespoke hotel, and we felt better spending our money there.

We came here for part of our honeymoon and left with memories we won’t forget. The jungle setting felt peaceful and sacred, and the temazcal ceremony was beautiful and transformative. Everything felt thoughtfully done and special, and we felt completely looked after. Yellow Nest Tulum is pure magic if you want to feel the spirit of the jungle.
