Hotel Mundo Maya Edzná

The pool and garden music was the one thing I’d change. It got a bit loud and energetic when I wanted to relax, so something gentler would fit better. The food was delicious, though a little pricey by local standards, and we were glad to try a few meals at the nearby Hacienda. We stayed two nights to visit the Edzna archeological site and ride the new Tren Maya, which was incredible. The hotel arranged rides to and from the station. It’s a gorgeous, spotless place, with tasteful, spacious rooms and lovely staff. The facilities are great too, though the Temazcal isn’t in use. I understand it’s difficult to find a Temazcalera in such a remote spot. It was low season, so the hotel was mostly empty. Having it nearly to ourselves felt special, though seeing more staff than guests was a little eerie. I’d definitely recommend making the trip to Edzna and staying here.
