The location worked really well, just a few minutes on foot from the zocalo, and the included breakfast was good. The property is beautiful, parking felt secure, and everyone we dealt with, from reception to housekeeping and breakfast, was great. We started in quiet room 101, then had to switch to 203 on day three for reasons outside our control and the hotel's staff. The room safe wasn't working, but maintenance fixed it within minutes. The shower had good hot water, and the internet connection was solid, though I can't comment on its speed. Room 203 was a different story for showering. The water pressure was very low, and the shower head sat so low that it was uncomfortable for me at 1.8m tall. My shorter wife was fine with it.

The staff at the restaurant and the woman at the SPA were the only people who were nice to us. At the front desk, service felt rude or indifferent. They also advertised room service, but there wasn't any. We waited two hours for our room even though the website said check-in was available at any time, and the breakfast buffet only happened on weekends despite the listing. The grounds look beautiful, but they aren't well maintained. Our room wasn't very clean, and loose tiles on the path to the restaurant badly hurt my ankle. The price was far too high for what we got. Valle de Bravo has lovely hotels, so I'd choose another one.

I booked through Orbitz, where this place is listed, and cancelled within the allowed time. They kept my money. I called and sent lots of emails but got no response or refund. The manager admitted it was their fault, but days and then months passed without the refund arriving. The service was extremely rude. They're thieves.

The people are wonderful, and the little church is full of color. It's a beautiful place to visit, and you can learn about religious people who were once all over the world.
