For the very low price we paid, 40 bucks a night, I’d nearly give it five stars. The room was large and very comfy, with cable TV, air conditioning, and big, comfortable king beds. But the pool looked like a dirty puddle from the interwar years. There were dead insects and bits of trees and bushes floating on top, and you could barely see the bottom. If they changed the water more than once every five years, they’d probably get that fifth star.

The room was fairly clean, but the rest of the place was a mess. The welcome drink station was covered in ants, the paperwork was archaic, and the room keys were old. The receptionist looked unsmiling and overworked. This needs a complete overhaul, starting with management and staff training. Avoid it if you can.

The vending machine was nearly empty, with only four of its twenty slots stocked. One muffin looked like a petri dish. There was no hot water, and I found a small spider in the bathtub. Check-in was slow, and our room was a long way from the lobby with a view of a brick wall.

It’s a beautiful property, but very poorly maintained. We found an alacrán in our room, which was really unfortunate. I won’t return or recommend this place to stay.

For a stay in Colima city proper, this is a solid affordable choice. The staff were friendly and dependable. I'd recommend it.
