Rancho San Miguel

The cabin was comfortable, pretty, and clean, and I loved the waterfall. It was all so beautiful and relaxing. The people were friendly, the food was delicious, and the services and activities were excellent and fun. I highly recommend going.

The prices are very high. They charge 75 pesos corkage per bottle and 35 pesos for a six-pack, so we decided to have a few drinks before going in and take our own food. You can’t play music, and once you book, they send you very restrictive rules that make it hard to enjoy yourself. The place is small, surrounded by cornfields, and trying too hard to look stylish for its location. The river entrance was closed because the water was too high. I felt like I was in somebody else’s backyard, and had to stay shut inside the “cabin,” which I really didn’t like. It’s a tiny concrete room with a red sheet metal roof and a wood-effect paint job inside. They provide a plastic table and two plastic chairs that slide around with the slightest movement. Looking out the window made me uncomfortable, like I was being watched, because the owner kept walking around the garden. Since it was so small, we had to see each other... I didn’t like the place at all and won’t go back. I’ve been to plenty of other places, and even the simplest ones can feel much more comfortable. P.S. You can tell what the owners are like from the way they respond to comments.

It’s a lovely, peaceful place, and the staff are friendly. I wasn’t happy that it’s surrounded by farmland, though. The pine trees and other plants they’ve added aren’t native to the area, and that harms the local flora and fauna. The cabin bathroom is cramped and very uncomfortable to use. The ramp up to it is steep too, which was especially difficult for my elderly companion.

The food was delicious, and I had a really good time there. The place is beautiful, and the activities were lots of fun. The waterfall was pretty, too.
