Ecohabitat

We felt really well looked after at Ecohabitat, especially by Jorge, who seems to handle reception, maintenance, and serving. He was so kind, and even came to unlock our door at 9:30pm after I accidentally locked us out. Breakfast is included, and you choose a time; they bring it to your suite and serve it on the fully covered verandah. It was very good. The place is rustic, a different feel from Mexico’s all-inclusives, but it’s a perfect spot for getting to Calakmul. Everything was clean and tidy. The hotel is right by a main trucking road, and they make that very clear, so we weren’t surprised. We didn’t find it especially loud, and have stayed in noisier hotels. The A/C worked so well that we were actually cold for the first time in Mexico, and I think it covered most of the road noise. The shower is basic, enough to rinse off the day’s sweat, but not a spa experience. We’re used to camping showers, so it was fine. We also appreciated the fridge and coffee machine, and the private parking spot was a nice bonus. Thanks for a lovely stay in rural Campeche!

Rustic, quiet, and friendly, with Wi-Fi that worked great and a shower with both hot and cold water. We paid $200 pesos a night to camp in our van while exploring the Xpujil/Hormiguero/Becán/Chicanna archaeological zones. For RV and van travelers, the campsite electricity won’t run an A/C, but it’s enough for everything else.

We couldn’t hear the big trucks from our cabin, even though this sweet little ecohabitat is tucked just off the main road. The room was basic but very clean, with a fridge and what we needed for the night before heading to Calakmul to see the Maya temples. The hosts were so kind. We forgot the time difference and showed up an hour early for breakfast, at 5.30 instead of 6.30, but they got up and made it for us anyway. We recommend it!

The room was spotless, and we could sit outside in the outdoor area, which is screened with mosquito nets. Our host was very friendly and helpful, and served us a big breakfast at 5:30 am before we went to Calakmul. I’d happily come back.
