Yelapas Casa Viaje

Patricia served us and was really attentive. The food was great, though not as good as abuelos, and the passion fruit margaritas were by far the best. The grounds were clean, safe, and beautifully landscaped. The staff were kind, and this was the nicest stretch of the whole beach. Grab a chair or hammock and enjoy the calm. They take credit cards if you need to pay that way.

The private pool looking over the beach is pretty cool. Yelapa doesn't have much going on, so staying here puts you right by the nightlife and beach. The location is nice, but choose your season carefully. In the off season, the bugs and humidity can be overwhelming. Be sure to use the bug nets!

The restaurant food is fairly expensive and basic, though it was good and safe enough. I assume the kitchen is clean. There isn't much to do here, except feed stray dogs, hear them barking at night, or swim when the water isn't too dirty. The harbor water is sometimes turbid, but after rain it's mostly very turbid and polluted. They were going for an authentic hotel, and it is authentic, too authentic for me. There's dirt, sand, humidity, stuffiness, mosquitoes, sand flies, and sometimes even an iguana. There is no AC, TV, or comfort. The only road for quad bikes runs right beside your window, and there's no glass in the window, so you get the traffic whenever it comes by. In short, I'd stay somewhere else.

The location is beautiful, right on the beach, and the place is rustic, which I don't mind. But the rooms were dirty and poorly maintained, the mosquito nets smelled bad, and there was mold in the bathroom. At $120 a night, cleanliness should be guaranteed.
