Hotel Familiar El Dorado

The location is really convenient, close to the main beach, municipal market and city center. We stayed three days and had a wonderful, comfortable visit. The rooms are small but cozy and have what you need. We booked by calling the hotel directly, and the reservation was fine when we arrived. There’s Wi-Fi and a shared area with tables and chairs for dinner or family time. By the pool, there’s a hammock, bench and table if you’d rather hang out than swim. The water was clean, and the waterfall with lights looked beautiful for nighttime photos. You can play your own music at a moderate volume until 10 pm. Service from both the housekeeper and bartender was excellent. I’d definitely return.

I asked to look at a room before booking, which seems perfectly normal, and turned on the shower to check the water pressure. The receptionist complained that I was “dirtying” the bathroom and shouldn’t do that if I wasn’t going to rent it. Apparently, water is a pollutant here. The reception service was terrible, absurdly rude and unprofessional. If that’s how they treat a potential customer, I can only imagine what it’s like after you’ve paid. There are much better options. The hotel across the street, for example, understands customer service.

The rooms need maintenance, and the stairs are dangerous and need attention. People smoke indoors, even though it’s against the law. They also leave the area around the pool wet, even though it’s a walkway to the rooms, so the standing water could cause an accident.

We had a great stay, with good service, a convenient location and nice rooms. It was very hot, but the AC worked well. The bed was comfortable, and the hotel even has internet access. 😃🛜
