Hotel Mariposa

The location was a real plus for us. It’s about a 5-minute walk to a food market with tasty meals at good prices, and around 10 minutes to the main beach, where the waves are very calm. There are lots of different shops along the way, and the area feels picturesque, safe, and peaceful even though it’s central. The front desk lady was friendly and gave us good food and excursion tips. She even sold us tickets for the boat tour to Las Gatas beach. Service was very good, though prices were high since we visited in peak season. It’s a simple hotel with a pleasant reception area, a small pool, and a shared space with a fridge for warming food and keeping drinks or leftovers. The rooms are tiny, with cement bed bases and a small drywall space for clothes. There are very few hangers, and they’re old. The TVs are flat-screen, and the bathrooms have hot water, but the showers are cramped and the drains were often clogged. The sheets, pillows, and towels were very clean and changed every day.

The bathroom is so cramped you can barely fit in it, and the rooms are very small. There was no hot water. They also control the air conditioning, so you can’t choose the setting. I forgot something valuable, and they didn’t return it. The worker was rude when I asked.

I just got back and would never stay there again. It was the ugliest place I’ve ever stayed, and it felt more like a neighborhood than a hotel. The owner treated us terribly, got angry about everything, kicked us out, and didn’t give us the rooms we had requested.

It felt like home, and the place was VERY CLEAN. I loved it 😍
