The property feels more like a private apartment complex than a resort, so if you want a standard hotel stay, this may not be for you. Bar and food service wind down around 5:30 PM, so plan your evenings around that. I loved my stay despite a comical run of logistical issues at the beginning. The food was the best I had in all of Ixtapa and Zihua, which I never expected from a rental complex. The three men working the food and bar area were exceptionally accommodating, and their rare level of service really made the experience. The grounds and temperature-controlled pools were beautiful and well maintained. The employees were professional and respectful, and we never felt like second-class citizens around them. There was a different feeling from some of the permanent residents and owners, though. We sensed tension and got a snobby vibe from a few people who seemed unhappy that renters were using their vacation homes, apparently because they considered us “ghetto.” Still, the bar staff’s service, the incredible food, and the stunning pools made the stay a win.

Sofia helped me plan every detail of my Mother’s Blessing Ceremony at Marea Beachfront Villas, offering thoughtful choices and making sure it all ran smoothly. The property is stunning and works well for intimate or larger events. We had a lovely photoshoot, then a peaceful sound healing ceremony on a terrace overlooking the beach. We finished with a delicious family-style dinner. Christopher and the restaurant team were so attentive and made the evening even more enjoyable. The food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend Marea Beachfront Villas for a private event. The service, food and drinks, and attention to detail were exceptional.

The sunsets are the kind you’ll want to keep in pictures, and you can walk for miles along the beach. The pools are just what you want on vacation. It’s easy to get here from the airport and into town, too. Tirso makes amazing drinks, and the tacos are perfect.

We had nine wonderful days at Marea. It’s a quiet, beautiful spot, and a great fit if you’re after peace rather than the buzz of a big resort. The customer service was top-notch, from the front desk to the restaurant. Everyone was so attentive that it kept surprising me. The food was excellent, and Chef Freddy and servers Rafael, Giovanni, and Claudio took great care of us. We had a relaxing, enjoyable trip and I’ll definitely visit again.
