T+ Premium Hotel

Returning to the hotel after dinner was awkward, since traffic often meant making a U-turn at a light or nearby shop lot. There’s free parking outside, but no spaces reserved for guests. When we got back, it was full because of a rooftop event, and nobody had mentioned the event at check-in. The room felt dated. Its sliding partition between the toilet and shower made it hard for two people to use both at once, and shower water leaked into the toilet area. Check-in took much longer than expected, and the receptionist wasn’t very welcoming.

We booked one night to rest before driving to Thailand the next morning, but barely got any sleep. Around 11 PM, the power in our room went out. We waited about 20 minutes with no staff coming to check on us or explain what was happening. I called the hotel myself. The staff member first asked whether anyone was in the room, then said the power had already been out for quite a while. There was no apology or urgency. We were told to go down from the third floor in the middle of the night and change the room card ourselves. We had to go back and forth, change rooms and return the old card, all around midnight. We needed to get up at 5 AM. The service was very poor, and the hotel showed no sense of responsibility when we needed help and rest.

I’ve stayed here before, but this time I found that the towel in my room smelled bad after I showered. I went to reception to ask for a fresh one, and the employee, an Indian man, refused, saying the towel had already been used. What was I supposed to dry myself with after a shower, tissue? When we argued, he threw the dirty towel down in front of the counter. That was very rude. The service was awful, and the hotel needs to take staff behavior seriously and improve it.

The only thing that bothered me was the sound carrying between rooms. Noisy neighbors could be disturbing. Otherwise, this was the most satisfying hotel I’ve stayed at in Alor Setar. The staff were friendly, the location was convenient, and my room was comfortable and spacious. The whole place felt pleasant and relaxing, and I’d recommend it.
