Th Hotel by OYO Rooms

There were lots of cockroaches, and the room hadn’t been cleaned properly. I didn’t feel this hotel was suitable for women, or that it put safety and comfort first. This was my first and last time.

We picked it because it’s near the train station for an early train, which ended up being 75 minutes late. The room itself was clean, though paint was peeling. The bed was okay, but the pillows were extremely hard. Staff weren’t friendly, and there was only one towel for two people. I had to go downstairs to get another one. The photos look like they’re from when the place first opened. It was cheap, so I suppose I got what I paid for.

This is a reasonably priced budget hotel in Bahau’s commercial area, close to the KTM station for trains toward the east and south coasts of Peninsula Malaysia. Some room types cost less than at other hotels. It’s clean, and the hotel provides soap and towels. There’s no lift, only stairs, and I personally prefer having a window in the room. I’ve stayed here several times since last year while visiting for hikes at Taisho Hill, but I can’t say whether I’ll stay here again, since I’m considering other places for recreation.

The owner and receptionist were very rude. There were three of them, the receptionist and her two daughters. Before Raya, we booked in person and both sides agreed on a downstairs room. When we arrived to check in, we were told the owner had taken that room because he was ill, although he was standing in front of us and didn’t appear ill. When we asked for a full refund, the owner and receptionist said they couldn’t return all our money. This led to an argument between us and the hotel. We were embarrassed, and said we would file a police report so the responsible party could take appropriate action over what we felt was deception.
