Check In Hotel

The street was really loud, and sleep was hard to come by. Our room sat by the front window behind the front desk, where the doorbell and phone kept ringing unanswered around 3-4am. The room itself was plain but comfortable, a no-frills place. Bathrooms are old and shared, and the showers were very cold.

The one good thing was how clean the place was, thanks to the Muslim cleaner. Otherwise, the rooms are tiny and really just for sleeping, with no TV, coffee, or toilet inside. The listing said LCD TV and self-service tea and coffee, but those were outside the rooms, shared by all guests, and only on level 2. Most rooms also have an outside shared bathroom. It isn't suitable for elderly or disabled people. The first floor isn't at ground level, so you have to use stairs. The WhatsApp staff member was rude when I asked why I had paid an extra RM30 without breakfast and said that should be improved. He mocked me. They also charged more than the advertised price when I wanted to upgrade rooms. The photos showed the outside of the rooms, not the rooms themselves.

The place was clean, with a water heater and a shared living area, and it was good value. The staff were friendly and it was close to everything. It's already cold, so there's no fan or air conditioning. I'd recommend it for young couples or backpackers. There's no lift, so it isn't OKU friendly, and parking isn't provided.

The biggest issue for us was noise. Brinchang's scooters are incredibly loud, and people rev them most from 1-3am. Bring earplugs unless you're a deep sleeper. That's the area, not the hotel's fault. We really enjoyed our stay otherwise. This hotel is in Brinchang, a small town separate from Tanah Rata in the Cameron Highlands. It's about a 10 minute drive from Tanah Rata bus station, and a taxi to or from there should cost a flat 10RM. In Brinchang, the location is great and everything is walkable. You can book tours at the hotel, or try hiring a taxi driver to visit the same sites for a bit less, though you'll need to haggle. The bed was comfy and clean. Wi-Fi was good in the common areas but almost unusable in the room. You'll probably want a jacket instead of AC. The bedroom door locks, and that was enough for us.
