Anantara Desaru Coast Resort and Villas

Mr Dani, our concierge, looked after the trip arrangements and even drove us to the night market, which we really enjoyed. The staff were warm and attentive throughout, and everything from the setting to the thoughtful details was beautifully done. We also recommend Desaru Fruit Farm, about a 20-minute drive away. We’re already planning another visit, and it’s nice that Anantara Desaru is so close to home. We had booked a garden deluxe room, then realised we’d prefer a higher floor and upgraded. It was well worth it. The villa was very comfortable, especially the bed, and we slept so soundly that we missed breakfast most days. We did finally try it on our last morning before leaving, and the spread was absolutely worth it, with lots of choices. The resort is an easy, comfortable two-hour drive away, and made for a truly relaxing staycation. From the moment we arrived, the service and range of dining options impressed us.

Even as the resort got gradually busier, the service stayed at a high level. From our first moment on the property, the whole team showed excellent care, and check-in was smooth. Annuar, Shavin, Afiq, Fitri, Firdaus, S. Reza, Aref , Mehide and Malathy all kept making an effort to help us feel comfortable and welcome. My wife and I had a memorable trip, thank you.

The meal was delicious. The Rendang Daging was tender and full of flavor, the sliced grilled lamb was perfectly cooked, and the fragrant Nasi Briyani went beautifully with everything. The cozy restaurant made for a relaxing evening, and Shabber, Tracee, Cici, and the Chef were warm and welcoming. One small issue did bother us during the meal: water kept dripping from the air conditioner ceiling vent onto my side of the table. It didn't spoil the evening, though the maintenance issue should be addressed. It was a great experience overall.

We went for our anniversary honeymoon, and the service was great. They decorated the room as requested. I’d noted that I don’t eat chocolate cake, but they still brought one as the complimentary cake. I can’t really complain about a free cake, but it did make me feel the side note hadn’t been taken seriously. There wasn’t much to do at the resort, especially at night, and the pool closed at 7pm. I think a standard five-star resort should offer at least a few activities during the day and evening. There was much less to do here than at five-star resorts in Singapore.
