The biggest drawback was the soundproofing. The walls felt thin and carried noise easily. I was on the second floor, so I didn’t hear footsteps overhead, but I walked carefully because other reviews said movement could make the rooms feel like they were shaking. The earplugs they provide suddenly made sense. I stayed in a private room and didn’t get to chat much with other guests, though I would’ve liked to. The staff were welcoming and helpful throughout. The location is right in the heart of Georgetown, with everything I wanted to see within walking distance. They also provide a two-day itinerary that looked nice, though I didn’t get to do it all. Mornings came with cute bakery items, coffee and a machine, and there’s a microwave and fridge. Towels, toothbrushes and toothpaste, and earplugs are provided. Room service is available if you ask, though I’m not sure whether there’s an extra charge. My room was very clean and the AC worked perfectly. The showers are outside the rooms, but that wasn’t a problem for me. Hot water was steady and quite decent. Security felt good, with passcodes for both the main entrance and my room. Despite the noise, I had a really pleasant stay and honestly wish I’d stayed longer.

I spent four nights in Georgetown and couldn’t have picked a better hostel. Everything is close by, and the rooms are spacious, clean and air-conditioned. The toilets are always clean and stocked with paper. The staff stay alert in case you need anything. 10/10, I’d come back without hesitation.

I’d booked another Aayu property at first, but was moved here. The location was convenient, with a few places to eat downstairs at night. Check-in and checkout were smooth and contactless, and the common areas were kept clean. The bathroom is small and gets wet, so it took some getting used to, but it wasn’t a major issue. Check which rooms have windows before booking. It can get a little loud when cars honk outside, though it wasn’t a problem for me since it didn’t get too loud after 11/12.

The location is excellent, and the itinerary and recommendations were useful. Still, the building clearly isn’t designed for sleeping, and noise from rain on the tin roof and cars outside was a lot. I can appreciate the heritage and antique style, but that doesn’t excuse the dust everywhere, ants in the shower, or going four days without a hot shower. The management and cleanliness were poor. I wouldn’t call it a hostel, more of a guesthouse.

The location is ideal, with many tourist spots within walking distance, and the host communicated well. Check-in was smooth. The rooms are a little old, but clean and good value, and they have AC. Each morning they put out different kinds of bread from a local bakery, which was a big plus. If you’re sensitive to noise at night, though, this might not be the best place for you.
