Clans Kongsi Georgetown

The staff are what made this beautifully restored old boutique hotel so memorable. Everyone was lovely and went out of their way to make us comfortable, including being fantastic with our 18 month old daughter. We’ll remember them fondly. We’ve been traveling for two months, and this is one of our favorite places so far. Breakfast and afternoon tea with snacks are included, along with a morning tour of the local market and nearby beautiful Khoo Kongsi building. Thank you, everyone.

I loved the historical feel. Staying here was like stepping back 100 years in Asia, and this boutique hotel made my time in Penang much better, since I don’t like the city that much. I spent most of my time in my room. The staff are super nice. Breakfast and afternoon tea were brought to my room, which was easy and lovely. There’s no restaurant, but if you need anything, they’ll get it for you.

Bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper. The morning Azan and chanting from the funeral home carry in, and there’s noisy activity all around because the hotel is close to everything. That said, this is a standout boutique hotel in the heart of Georgetown. Siva, the main man, handled things perfectly and answered all our questions, silly ones included. They also add lots of nice extras: made-to-order breakfast from a huge menu, tea snacks, coffee and tea, and canned drinks available throughout the stay. The service is excellent.

We got a birthday treat left in our room, a lovely surprise. The made-to-order breakfast was delicious, and staff were very friendly and always willing to help. The restored hotel is beautiful, set in Penang’s heritage district, and well placed for exploring. Free access to Khoo Kongsi museum is included.
