Dou Houz - Hostel

The location was excellent, and the staff were friendly, but I’d probably choose somewhere else next time. Wi-Fi kept dropping out, especially in the dorm. The beds were okay, though the mattress kept sliding around. Washrooms were fine, but getting to them meant taking a tricky staircase with very shallow steps down to the ground floor. The air conditioning worked well, yet you sometimes had to leave the privacy curtains open to keep air moving, which rather defeats having them. A nice common room matters less to me than privacy, comfort, cleanliness, security, and a reliable connection. It was okay, just not one of my favourite hostels.

Everything went smoothly, and I had a really enjoyable stay at Dou Houz Georgetown. The room was comfortable and clean, the staff were welcoming, and the location was just right. I’d definitely recommend it! 😊

This was one of the worst hotel stays I’ve ever had. The walls were so thin we could hear everything, right down to footsteps passing our room. We were told to keep quiet at a certain hour, but the walls are clearly the bigger problem. That night, heavy rain brought loud bangs on the roof that continued all night. Then I went to my car, parked directly outside, to get a few things. My key card was in the car, and a strange man nearby was carrying a stick and raising it as if to hit us. My three siblings and I ran back to the hotel, banging on the door in shock and fear. Guests can only get in with a key or help from the workers. The workers were inside, saw how frightened we were, and did nothing, even though they knew we were staying there. We were left shaken by the whole thing. Their heartless response to three girls who were so scared was shocking.

A nice place to stay, and the owner was so helpful. Just know this hostel may not suit you if you want more comfort and flexibility.
