The neighborhood around the Air B&B was really quiet, with hardly any disturbance, and it’s about a 10-15 minute drive to most places in Georgetown. The sea is a five-minute walk away, according to Google Maps, and there are convenience stores nearby. A mall is also within walking distance, with bubble tea, Coffee Bean, FamilyMart, and quick bites for the evening. Ken was great to deal with. He stayed reachable, sorted out issues quickly, and checked in every night to see if we were comfortable. Knowing Chinese or Hokkien is a bonus. The rooms are spacious, the air conditioning and heater worked perfectly, and I was impressed that every room had a hair dryer.

We booked a family suite through the OYO app two days ahead, but when we arrived, the owner said we couldn’t check in because someone else was occupying it. He’d rented the room outside the platform and hadn’t updated its availability. When we called, he said this had happened often and that he knew about the problem. He never contacted us about our booking, and he didn’t help resolve the situation, telling us to deal with OYO ourselves. It felt like he was trying to earn from both sides and leave guests with the hassle. We had to cancel and find another room on the day of our trip. Avoid booking here if you don’t want to spend your travel day searching for somewhere else to stay.

We booked the whole house for my family, and everyone had good things to say. It was clean and comfortable, in a convenient spot, and the price was reasonable. We had a great stay.

The room took so long to be cleaned that we never even got to see it. We arrived at 2 pm, and the man there said it wasn’t ready and would take an hour. He should have been prepared for guests. He offered us another room for the same cash price and asked us to cancel our OYO booking. We were only using the room to store luggage, so we chose to wait. He knew we were tired but didn’t hurry so we could rest, and even after two friends went to karaoke for an hour at the offered RM15 per hour rate, it still wasn’t ready. While we were out eating, he said he’d take our bags to the room, but they were still in the living room when we got back. He also offered to drive us to the airport, and we initially agreed, but when we picked up our luggage he was eating and asked us to wait. There was no hospitality, no room shown to us, and no help when we needed it. It felt like he just wanted our money without providing proper service.
