The WiFi password didn’t work, and when I called reception to ask for a reset, nobody picked up. Later, I noticed a moldy smell in the room, and the air-conditioning still wasn’t cold at 9.10pm, even though I’d set it to 16°C. There was also a brief power trip of about three seconds. I arrived at 5.40pm and was asked to hand over my IC and wait, with no explanation. At 6.05pm, I checked with the front desk and was told the hotel was doing air-conditioning maintenance and I’d need to wait another 30 minutes. I ended up waiting nearly an hour just to check in, without any warning beforehand. When I finally got to the room, neither of the two access cards worked for the lift, so I had to go back to reception and sort them out. By then it was close to 7.00pm, and the problems were still piling up. At 9.21pm, I went downstairs to complain and found maintenance staff still working on the air-conditioning. They said it would take another hour. Guests shouldn’t have to put up with a room that can’t be used properly for hours after check-in. Is management really not going to offer any compensation for all this? I don’t understand what several hours of this so-called maintenance achieved. Honestly, I’ve had much better service at cheaper hotels. The communication, service, and management were all very poor. This was worse than RM50 budget hotels, and I won’t be back. I also don’t understand how the hotel gets such high ratings.

The location worked well for me, with hospitals and Gurney within walking distance and lots of food stalls nearby. The pool and gym were fine, and there’s a water dispenser on every floor, which was handy. The room was large and had enough amenities for a three-star hotel. Front desk and security staff were helpful, though not especially friendly, which was acceptable for a three-star place. Sleep was a real problem. Noise from outside, nearby rooms, and the room above came through clearly, as if the windows were open. I could barely sleep. The AC grill also rattled all night. There was no hot water in my room, and without a shower screen the whole bathroom got wet. Cleanliness and upkeep need work too. The bathroom sealant was yellowish and brown, there was hair on the sheet, and the sheet smelled odd. The corridor smelled a bit like damp carpet, and the corners of the room were dusty.

I was fairly happy with my four-night stay, but check which room you’re given. Rooms 05 and 06 are at the far end of the corridor, and both felt extremely humid. The floors and walls stayed damp, and the musty smell was strong. They’re connecting rooms as well, so sound carries badly. Keep that in mind when checking in.

Food is easy to find all around the hotel, and convenience stores are right beside it. The room was clean and fairly spacious for the price, including the bathroom. Had a great stay here.
