Wangs Hotel Gurney Drive

The air conditioning stopped completely around midnight, and we woke up sweating. The room had been warm but tolerable before that. It became unbearable, so we asked to change rooms, and thankfully got another one. We also found quite a number of insects, mainly kamiteteps, on the bed and pillows, so we had to be extra careful. The lift seemed poorly maintained. We had to get in and out multiple times until we heard the “beep” that indicated it was working properly. The hotel looked good from outside and had a few parking spots on a first come, first served basis, but the stay wasn't pleasant. I hope maintenance improves the facilities and cleanliness.

The room was very small and below expectations, and the bedsheets weren't clean, which raised hygiene concerns. The parking space was tiny and inconvenient. Reception had a poor attitude and wasn't friendly or helpful. Management also handled issues poorly and unprofessionally. Not a pleasant stay.

We stayed for two nights after checking in on 26 December 2025. On 28 December 2025, around 10:20, we'd already checked out and were sitting in our car outside the hotel when someone claiming to be the manager knocked on the window. He didn't clearly identify himself. He asked if we were the guests who'd cancelled, saying he'd received an email around 9:00 that morning claiming our two-night booking had been cancelled because of an Agoda system issue. He demanded to see the Agoda booking on my phone. When I asked what would happen if we showed we hadn't cancelled, he replied, “Then you can leave.” We explained we'd stayed as booked and completed checkout, but he stayed confrontational, repeatedly demanded I get out of the car, and spoke in a way that felt threatening. The situation escalated until police had to intervene to end it. We'd already completed check-in and checkout, so this way of handling the matter was incomprehensible. It seriously undermined our sense of personal safety and disrupted our travel plans. This isn't the professional service expected from a hotel. Our dashcam recorded the whole incident. We won't recommend the hotel, and hope management addresses internal system coordination, frontline staff communication and incident handling so this doesn't happen again.

The room was okay overall, but it was pretty small and the bathroom needs attention. The towels were dirty and stained, and the floor towel was yellow and slightly green, with the whole towel yellow rather than just a stain. There was barely any water from the shower, and the toilet wouldn't flush. Luckily, staff helped and fixed the toilet. The room's TV had Netflix, and the hotel was very close to the park with lots of food nearby. It gets pretty loud outside at night, and the walls are thin and not soundproof. Still, it was okay overall.
