Glamz at Genting

The cold hilltop weather made the night especially nice for looking at the stars, which seemed closer than usual. Our tent space came with a clean tent, mattress and private bathroom. There were activities for kids, including a public jacuzzi tub and a few simple indoor and outdoor sports games. They serve good meal sets too, like breakfast and steamboat dinner, so food was easy. The BBQ set and other facilities were all ready to use.

It's a decent retreat at an okay price, with an acceptable location not too far from KL. The drive in and out is rough because of construction, though a normal car can get through without trouble. There's not a lot to do, and facilities like board games are basic. The jacuzzi runs only at certain hours, so check ahead. For breakfast, you choose one main, either a Big Breakfast style meal or tomyam meehoon. Eggs, roti canai, toast and the other items are free-flow and self-cook. The tent itself is ordinary, nothing special. The washroom is a small portable toilet attached to it, and it's run down, with a door that only partly works.

The surroundings were peaceful and serene, and there's a lot to enjoy at the site. We stayed one night in a Bell tent and another in a Dorm, and both were good options for a reasonable price. Their DIY breakfast concept is lovely, and the facilities are plentiful and clean. The place is clean and very well maintained, and the staff are helpful and friendly. Most importantly, the bathrooms are very clean, though a little small. I loved it all and will come again.

Uncle Chow was friendly, helpful and informative, and guided us through the night. This is a good, relaxing escape from the city, with lovely surroundings and scenery for a short getaway. The modern camping setup is a fun, different experience, and it seems like a larger group would enjoy it more. For couples, I'd suggest considering a private room. Bad weather during our stay meant we couldn't enjoy the scenery as much. Breakfast was fun to make ourselves, with ingredients like sausages, ham and bread provided. A buffet is also available for RM21. Since it's camping, expect plenty of small flying insects, especially near the toilets. The water heater wasn't working properly, and we only had sleeping bags, no regular blankets. Some facilities needed better care: the jacuzzi was under maintenance without advance notice, the game room hadn't been cleaned properly, and the bicycles were poorly maintained. The main dorm had some damage from a recent storm, which was worrying during the heavy rain that night.
