De Quinton Hotel

There are lots of nearby places to eat and buy local specialties to take home. A Sunday market is nearby too, though I didn’t get to visit it. The stay was spacious and comfortable. Soundproofing could be better, but thankfully it wasn’t too noisy during this period. The AC is positioned right in front of the bed, so to stop the air blowing constantly on my face while I sleep, the only option was turning it off.

There’s plenty to eat nearby, including halal cafes, restaurants, and nasi kandar places within walking distance. Restaurants and shops are all around the hotel, with a pharmacy across the street and a lively night market in the evenings. It’s also close to tourist spots. Old Town, including Concubine Lane and Lorong Panglima, is about a 10-minute walk away. A pleasant, convenient place to stay.

We stayed for two nights last week with family and were quite happy overall. The room was clean and well maintained, with a practical layout that fit three large suitcases opened up. We got the three beds described, which worked well for our family of three. There was also a dressing table with a big mirror and a hairdryer. The location is convenient for OldTown White Coffee, Gerbang Malam Night Market, and Concubine Lane, all within walking distance. One thing to keep in mind is that you may hear firecrackers at night because the hotel is near Gerbang Malam, especially on weekends. The mini fridge is a plus, but it’s connected to the main power, so it switches off when you remove the key card. Be careful about leaving food in it when you go out.

The room was spacious, clean, comfortable, and clearly well looked after. The staff were welcoming and very friendly. Even after checkout, they let us keep using the lobby, which was a thoughtful gesture that made a difference. The train station is about a 20-minute walk away, and there are plenty of good restaurants and places to pick up local treats nearby. We had a wonderful stay and would happily return and recommend it to friends.
