Edm Space Ipoh - Hostel

The bed was simple but comfortable, and I really liked the open space outside the room where you can sit with a book. The owner was very nice and always greeted us with a smile. It’s a great spot for a backpacker, with a very clean toilet. The air conditioning is only on at night, but that was fine since you’re probably out all day. Gerbang Malam and Memory Lane (Sunday only) are close by, so it’s a convenient place to stay on weekends.

The owner was welcoming and helpful, and there’s good food nearby. A taxi ride to the bus terminal amanjaya takes about 15-20. For a backpacker passing through for a night, it’s manageable, but keep your expectations for the room low. The partitions are thin boards, so light comes through and you can hear everything. It’s just a mattress on the floor, and the room gets very hot when the door is shut because the air conditioning is outside. The owner does provide a fan for each room. There’s no hot water or towels.

The owners were super nice, the price was reasonable, and everything was very clean, which is my number one priority. The thin walls and open roof mean there isn’t much privacy, but I don’t mind for a couple of nights. I’ve stayed in some pretty horrible places as a backpacker, and this one is very good. I’d come again.

I’ve never had a worse experience. There was a big difference between what was stated before booking and what I found after paying and checking in. I booked a double room that was listed as having a private toilet and air conditioning, but the room was stuffy, had only one single bed, no private toilet, and no air conditioning during the day. I can accept not having a private toilet, but without daytime air conditioning, how are tourists supposed to rest? I asked the person in charge, who blamed the agency. The agency said it was the hotel’s problem. I had to spend more money to find another hotel, and there was no refund.
