M Motel Meru

I ended up looking for another hotel and didn’t stay here. I didn’t even bother asking for a refund. The photos and actual rooms were completely different, so don’t be fooled. I checked in around 1800. At first, I couldn’t find the place on Waze, and Google said it was permanently closed. That made me skeptical, especially after reading the fairly bad Google reviews. The reception was dusty and poorly lit, with several other guests sitting outside. At check-in, they gave me the air conditioner and TV remotes and a room key. On the way up to the first floor, I saw a huge hole in the ceiling, as shown in the photo I posted. The room smelled really bad. The sheets were old, dirty, and badly stained, and the floor was dirty too. There was a cockroach behind the bathroom door. The toilet bowl looked as if it hadn’t been scrubbed for three weeks or more, and the sink was yellow and smelled bad. This place didn’t meet the requirements for a stay.

There were plenty of parking spaces, but all the surrounding shops were closed after 5pm, so the area was quiet and dark. For a hotel at this price, it was nice compared with similar options. The room had a small fridge, iron, kettle, and TV. The facilities and hygiene could be better. There was dirt inside the kettle and dust above the mattress, perhaps because my room hadn’t been occupied for a while. The gap under the door was so large that people could peep inside.

The location felt secluded, dark, and a bit scary. Mydin mall and fast food restaurants are nearby, but not within walking distance. It felt safer to drive to food places and shops, especially at night. There’s ample parking. I’m not very fussy, but the pillow smell and stains were too much for me. They smelled of body odor. The room did have a mini fridge, kettle, flat-screen TV, hangers, and an okay bathroom. The receptionist was colder than the air conditioning in my room. This place needs cleaning and maintenance.

The beddings felt damp and unclean, with hairs and dust, and after just a few hours our skin had rashes. The bathroom was the worst, with mold on the walls, sink, and hoses, up to about neck height. Disgusting, like a petrol station toilet, even worse. The room was extremely small, with a pillar in the middle and no place to pray. This was room number 2006. If you have to come here, maybe it’s okay for one night, that’s all. It’s close to the terminal and mall, but RM99 for this wasn’t worth it.
