We were happy enough with our stay that we're coming back in two weeks. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from KSL Mall along a direct route that's slightly downhill, so the walk back with our shopping bags is uphill. The concierge were polite and brought us extra toilet rolls. Our bed was so comfortable that we overslept on the last day, but the staff kindly didn't charge us for late checkout. The room had plenty of space and furniture. Most things worked well: the water pressure was good, Wifi was stable, the AC worked, and we could watch Youtube on the TV. My girlfriend was pleased that the fridge was cold and the hair dryer was powerful enough. One bed light didn't work when we arrived, and the shower drained slowly enough that after a long bath, water spread to the wash basin area. It was quiet when other guests were considerate, but one morning screaming kids in the common corridor woke us up.

We chose it for its location near KSL, but away from the hustle and bustle. It's an old hotel with a grand look, and the lobby feels welcoming. Check-in was easy, and the breakfast area is by the main entrance. Since the hotel was full, we got upgraded to a twin deluxe room. I liked the size, though the bathtub is hard for seniors to get in and out of. We liked the room and breakfast enough to book another night. That upgrade was to the same room category on a lower floor, at the far end of the building. It had a similar layout but was a bit smaller. I had a good stay and would return. Hopefully management will consider adding a standing shower.

The food was the only part we liked. Customer service needs a lot of work. The duty manager was rude and impolite on the phone when we asked for towels and a late checkout. They also need to explain their many rules and regulations more clearly. Why is the company so strict about deposits? We were exhausted after a long journey, but couldn't check in until we'd paid one. We waited two hours, even though the deposit could have been paid later. There are too many rules, and the whole thing left us frustrated. This was a bad experience, and I don't think I'd recommend it. I'll share what happened on social media. Check-in was 8 april 2026.

The best part for us was how convenient the location is. KSL Mall is an easy walk away for shopping, food, or an evening out. My wife and I spent one night at Grand Paragon Hotel, Johor Bahru and had a really enjoyable stay. The place was well maintained, and our room was clean, comfortable, and nicely arranged. The staff were friendly and helpful, which made everything run smoothly. We'd gladly stay again and recommend it to anyone visiting Johor Bahru.

I stayed 8-9 Dec 2025, and the receptionists made my day with their great service. The room was clean, and I loved the free gym, swimming pool, and steam bath. The location is very convenient, close to KSL and right near the end of the KSL pasar malam on Mondays. There are plenty of other eateries nearby too, and KSL Mall is easy to reach. I'll book Grand Paragon again!
