The staff, from reception and housekeeping to maintenance, were friendly and quick to help. Maintenance sorted out the loose ends right after I reported them, and the complimentary breakfast was well run by one staff member. I forgot to mention that the shower head wouldn’t stay upright, since I’d already showered the night before and checked out. The location is accessible via the 1st link causeway, but the family executive room felt expensive for its quality. Would I book again? No, there are better maintained rooms for the same price.

This was my second stay, and I noticed the room comfort and cleanliness have improved. I especially like the bed, it has that mochi feeling, and the pillows are fluffy. The night front desk staff, especially Tiana, Zila & Tiqah, were kind and really helpful in sorting out booking issues. I’d come back when I’m in town.

The air conditioning made this weekend stay at Hako Hotel JBCC unbearable. Even after we changed rooms and waited past midnight, it was still far too hot. In one room we were sweating, and at around 10:00 PM a staff member came up after our complaint. He was a bit rude and talked down to us, saying the control had to be set to 20°C and would take an hour to cool, even though it had been set to 16°C since we arrived. Our friends asked to cancel and get a full refund, but reception refused. They left around 1:00 AM and went back to Singapore rather than spend a sleepless night there. We were two couples travelling from Singapore and paid roughly S$100 per night. For a dated, poorly maintained place that felt fundamentally dysfunctional, that was a complete rip-off. Check-in was already frustrating: they wanted cash-only deposits, and both rooms’ key cards failed on the first try. You only get one card per room, and it controls the power. A spare card won’t keep the AC running while you’re out because the slot is designed for that one key card. The interiors felt ancient, the basic amenities didn’t work properly, and the service was rude. I rarely write reviews this scathing, but this stay was a disaster. Save your money and sanity, stay elsewhere in JB.

Good value for the money, and the hotel was very clean. The gentleman at reception handled things efficiently and was friendly and helpful, even though he was the only one there. Parking is available outside and in the basement. Breakfast is complimentary but simple, just eggs and toast, with weak coffee and tea.
