Happy Hotel by OYO Rooms

The room assignment was a mess. I booked two deluxe rooms on agoda, but when we arrived there were no deluxe rooms left. They gave us one standard room and one triple room. What I thought was an upgrade to a triple room turned into a nightmare. Cockroaches were all over that room, and it was so dirty we could barely sleep. They were climbing onto the bed. We told reception, and an uncle sent an assistant up to spray insecticide, which made even more cockroaches climb onto the bed. I spent the whole night killing them and couldn’t sleep. I’d killed about 25 by the time I posted this. Avoid this place at all costs.

The area was very secluded and didn’t feel safe. When I arrived, a white hair old man attended to me. As I opened the main lobby door, there was an unbearable smell of cigarette smoke. I showed him my online booking, but he said they don’t accept online booking and asked me to pay the full accommodation fee in cash. I was reluctant because I was sure my credit card had already been charged in full. Please beware of this hotel. I scrolled through past guests’ reviews and saw they’d faced the same issue. What surprised me was that it had been reported and no action was taken.

We arrived after booking and paying through Agoda, but OYO had no room for us. The hotel staff said they hadn’t received payment, and neither Agoda nor we could get hold of OYO staff. We met another traveller with the same problem, though they got lucky because someone else had cancelled. A terrible experience. Don’t book OYO.

Please be careful if you’re thinking of staying here. I’d avoid paying online through Agoda, OYO, or another booking site because the hotel seems to have an issue with those platforms. After a long drive, I got here late and was told they wouldn’t accept my online booking, so I had to cancel and pay the higher walk-in rate in cash. Agoda did refund me, but getting it sorted took a report and a lot of hassle. The room was clean and comfortable enough to sleep in, but the pillow smelled awful. There was no TV signal, and noise from the nearby pub carried into the room. Parking was really hard to find.
