Paragon Serviced Suites @ Straits View

Our family was happy with the stay and would return when we're in Johor Bahru again. We had six twin bed studio suites and one three-bedroom suite for one night, and the rooms had the facilities we needed. Breakfast was satisfactory, though the menu was limited. One relative left a power bank behind, which the hotel found and will send back by post. Thanks and kudos to the Management.

The only thing I liked was the location, close to town and near my apartment. I stayed alone for two days while my place was being renovated, and only found the courage to write about it months later. I wish I'd researched more. The lobby was spacious but empty, and the staff were friendly. I got a key card and went to my first-floor room. The lobby felt eerie, but I brushed it off and started working on my laptop. The WiFi kept cutting out, and I was on a call with my friend the whole time. I worked until midnight. Then I heard what sounded like the shower turning on, with loud water splashing like heavy rain. I waited for it to stop and checked the bathroom. The floor was dry, so I thought I might have imagined it, though my friend heard it too. I also heard children laughing and assumed they were other guests. But it got louder, and someone said Salam right outside my door. I kept working because the deadline was tight, until 3 am. Exhausted, I got ready for bed, then heard the shower again. I was restless and spooked, so I grabbed my things and left the room. I felt watched the whole time. The receptionist wouldn't refund me, and I couldn't spend another night there alone. I heard the hotel has changed names several times because of past horror stories, and that there's a haunted villa nearby. I don't know how it can still be operating.

Siti Aisyah at the front office did such a great job making our short stay memorable, and we never felt let down. Breakfast was simple, vegetarian and made when we asked. Great location and a lovely stay. Thanks so much, Siti Aisyah. We'll definitely return in the near future.

We booked at the last minute on Christmas Eve and got a big, clean and comfortable room with a king size bed for two. Everything worked well. There was a simple breakfast the next morning, a huge lobby, and a decent amount of underground parking, plus spaces beside a morning eatery restaurant. A great experience overall.
