MIICO Hotel @ Mount Austin

I've stayed here twice for work, and both visits left me disappointed with the service. The receptionists were different, but neither came across as friendly or welcoming, and there was little basic hospitality or even a smile. Guests also have to go to the counter each morning to ask for room cleaning, which is inconvenient. The service attitude and professionalism need attention. The receptionist on the right was coaching a new staff member, so please make sure she is trained well too. I hope management improves the guest service standards. Thank you.

For a short stay at a budget hotel, the tiny room is just about acceptable. The toilet area is nearly as large as the sleeping area, though, and the bed is very hard. The bedding looked old and smelled; I even found a sticker stuck to the blanket cover, so I wasn't sure it had been washed. There are two pillows per person, and room service requires filling out a form. There is no light by the basin and mirror, so you can only see yourself in daylight. The aircon temperature also shifts between cold and hot overnight, even at the same setting. Sound carries freely through the partition walls. The exterior looks decent, with lobby seating and a high table area that works for remote work. One slow lift serves all four floors. You get what you pay for, but I probably wouldn't come back.

The receptionists have always been really nice and helpful when I've stayed here. The room and bathroom are decent for a short visit, though noise can be an issue because the rooms aren't properly soundproofed. I've been back several times and plan to keep using the place for future short stays.

Parking was hard to find, although the location itself is handy, with lots of nearby restaurants. If your budget is tight, you could stay here to get some rest, but after a full day out I'd look for somewhere better. The room is cramped, with barely enough room for luggage, and it's noisy enough to hear people walking past and shutting doors. The room and mattress are old. I was also given misleading information about the TV: there was no Netflix or screen mirroring, and reception said only one room has a smart TV, not all of them. I didn't find the stay relaxing.
